Robilio's BBQ Drive In on Summer Avenue was an extremely popular teen hangout in the 60's, second only to Monte's Drive In further west on Summer. Most folks wouldn't recall, but the Beatles stopped at Monte's on their 1966 tour through Memphis.

My family is from Elkin -- I can tell you everything you need to know about how a sonker is different from a cobbler. The main one is that the batter is poured into the dish and then the prepared fruit (peaches, blackberries, etc. ...but sweet potatoes are actually quite common too) is piled on top of the batter.
