For the record I've never been arrested.

Much less arrested at such a fine hot dog establishment.

I know Layla too, dummy.

Come see me tomorrow at HDD.

L J Cuisine in West Nashville (at the end of the sprawling shopping strip where "Home Goods" is (and where the bowling alley used to be) is quite good for Asian/Chinese. Nashville needs more restaurants like "Tommy's" in Cleveland; down to earth, great variety, healthy items with tasty breakfasts, inventive lunch items and not pretentious.

>>> it just seems like many are just trying to cash in on Nashville’s “it city” status with little regard for the city and its residents.

First clue: "Hot chicken"-anything on the menu.

For those upthread looking for decent Chinese/Szechuan - try out Asian Bistro in Brentwood in the former Royal Thai space (same complex as the late Harris Teeter @ Church & Franklin).

The question is what exactly is "local"? Nashville already has a number of Southern cuisine restaurants and versions of it's indigenous "meat & three's and "hot chicken" are becoming popular in other cities around the nation.

I echo the need for some really good Chinese here...perhaps TKO will get it right...I hope its not all fusion...but my other wishes would have to be real ramen, top-notch sushi, and something like Zahav in Philadelphia - I know Federal Donuts (another Michael Solomonov creation) is coming here, but Zahav or even Dizengoff for that matter would be amazing! The latest addition to the city that's been making me happy has to be Butcher&Bee.

To the Dude - have you ever left Nashville? There are 30 places in a 5 block stretch of Flatbush (Brooklyn) alone that top Jamaicaway, and Calypso is a freakin joke if you want to call it Caribbean food.

My son The Dude Abideth, John the Revelator, Who Me?, Mahatma, winencheese, Mammy, John Rogers etc. losing his cool again under his only non deleted screen name. What a shame, he normally holds it together over here and saves his truly psychotic outbursts for Pith.

Porter Road Butcher dogs:

1) They are almost certainly the very best hot dogs that I have ever been priveleged to eat.

2) I will probably never, ever buy them again.

...why?..

3) Because once you get in their door, you see: brats, Italians, chorizos, andouille, who-knows-what there'll be on any particular day; soooo many wonderful sausages -- that are, all of them, even *better* than those astoundingly delicious hot dogs!
