So you're protecting the sanctity of a food conversation? It's still not cool to be bragging on the food quality of Chik-Fil-A.

I think it's always pertinent, who cooks my food, who profits from my patronage and what they do with the money.

Lord knows most of the time we have no idea, but if I do have the information and choose to ignore it, I feel I would be falling short of being a responsible citizen.

No Hobby Lobby, no Chick-fil-a, no BP, no Koch products, etc.. no thanks.

I celebrate Chik-Fil-A; I celebrate those who tout the quality of Chik-Fil-A and I celebrate those who can eat without bringing butt sex into the conversation.

now, you, prestodan and JoantheMasturbator, I don't celebrate.

Great, well so much for this page. It's reached the lowest common denominator now.

Quick consult with the hives: The out-of-town Woods want some reasonably authentic Latin-American/Mexican food, preferably with decent margaritas. What's good on Nolensville Rd or thereabouts these days?

@Nicki Las Americas on Nolensville Road is pretty damn good when it comes to Mexican food - authentic pupusas as I recall. Not certain on margaritas as I've only dined at lunch (and had to return to work).

Mexican food + full bar on Nolensville Road = limited choice. What pops in my head is La Hacienda, Los Arcos, & Las Cazuelas.

In 1979, it was our Friday lunch go-to place for happy hour/afternoon. We'd eat bean rolls and get shnonkered and swerve back late to our posts at Gusto Records for a rest-of-the-afternoon naps.

Fogatas at the Nolensville/Bell Road crossing is my favorite. Crazy cheap and first-rate.

Fogatas is at Nolensville/Old Hickory. No margaritas but a juice bar and cold beer.

@Nicki - Another vote for Fogatas. I especially recommend the quesadilla with either huitlacoche or flor de calabaza!

As far as staple Nashville dish, I would have to go with the hash browns at Pancake Pantry.

There are dozens of choices, but if I had to pick just one it's the cheeseburger on french bread at Rotier's. It is the same today as it was 20 years ago, and still delicious.

"For what it's worth, I hope Pollo Tropical has better and healthier food than Chik-Fil-A too."

Yes, in my opinion it does. I've visited the Smyrna location a couple of times and been relatively impressed with both the food quality and the ability to put together a relatively healthy meal in what is essentially a fast food operation.

For me it's the grill cook's medley at Pancake Pantry. Their hash browns are still some of the best I've ever had, but this dish augments their glory with swiss and american cheeses, tomatoes, onions, peppers, ham, salsa and eggs.

Loved them then, love em now. Consistency is key, throughout the changes.

Green Eggs & Ham on croissant at Star Bagel.

Open Thread Note - Best of India on Charlotte Pike, isn't. It's the worst.
